Horace Mann 8th Grade Graduation
- Graduation will be held on Tuesday, July 14, at Bruin Stadium in Braddock Park, beginning at 9:00 am.
- Graduates should be accompanied by 2 members of their family. No other guests will be permitted at this time.
- Graduates and 2 family members should arrive at Bruin Stadium from 8:30-8:45.
- The field will have 15 rows, each with 10 pods in a row. A pod is 3 chairs together for the graduate and 2 family members. Each pod, and row, will be placed 6 feet apart.
- Graduates and their 2 family members will be required to wear face masks and gloves. Security will only give access to those wearing these protective masks and gloves.
- Upon entering the field, you should take the nearest available pod for you and your 2 family members. There are no specific seating arrangements.
- Each graduate must have a large index card in which they have clearly printed their name, as it appears on their diploma.
- The graduation ceremony will begin at 9:00 am with the Pledge of Allegiance and greeting by Principal Tennaro. Following the greeting, Supt. of Schools, Dr. Solter, will speak to the graduates. Mayor Sacco will follow with a greeting to our graduates.
- All awards were part of the virtual graduation ceremony created by Ms. Murphy, and available to graduates. Awards will not be part of the live ceremony. Students received their awards on June 17, when they picked up their caps and gowns.
- Presentation of Diplomas - At this time, either Mr. Tennaro or a faculty member will call graduates to the podium, starting with row 1, pod 1. Graduates are to place their name card on the table in front of Ms. Alonso. Ms. Alonso will call the name of the student, and parents will be able to take a photo. The graduate will then take a diploma cover and they, along with their 2 guests, will exit Bruin Stadium. This procedure will follow from row 1, pod 1 to row 15, pod 15 for all graduates and their 2 guests to exit.
